Professor Michael Joy OBE, MD, FRCP, FACC, FESC, FRAeS Michael Joy qualified at St Thomas' Hospital (London University) in 1966 and is accredited in both cardiology and general internal medicine. He trained at St Thomas' Hospital, the National Heart Hospital and the London Hospital. He has been a specialist in adult cardiology and in the cardiological problems of aviation certification for over 28 years. He is a cardiologist at St Peters Hospital, Chertsey and cardiologist to the UK Civil Aviation Authority. He is a visiting Professor in Clinical Cardiology at the University of Surrey, and travelling Professor to the International Civil Aviation Organisation, Montreal. He sits on the Medical Advisory Panel to the UK CAA and recently retired from the Secretary of State's Advisory Committee on Driving and Diseases of the Cardiovascular System. He sits on the Medical Advisory Committee of the RAC Motor Sports Association. He served on the European task force on cardiovascular fitness to drive and prepared the first draft of the JAA Standards for cardiology for the JAR Med. He was the chairman and editor of the First and Second United Kingdom Workshops in Aviation Cardiology and of the First and Second European workshops, also in Aviation cardiology. He has published widely and currently advises airlines and certificatory agencies worldwide. He lectures regularly at international aviation medical meetings. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London, of the American College of Cardiology, of the European Society of Cardiology, of the Royal Aeroneutical Society, of the Aerospace Medical Association and is an acamedician of the International Academy of Aviation and Space Medicine. Dr David Fluck MD, BSc, FRCP David Fluck qualified at St Bartholomew's Hospital (London University)in 1986 and trained at St Bartholomew's Hospital and the London Chest Hospital. He is a cardiologist at St Peters Hospital, Chertsey, and also at St Geoge's Hospital, London. He specialises in invasive and interventional cardiology. He is dually accredited in cardiology and general internal medicine and has a special interest in the investigation and management of ischaemic heart disease. He has published widely. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Physians of London. Dr Vince Paul BSc, MD, FRCP Vince Paul qualified at Machester University in 1981, and trained in Cardiology in Manchester Royal Infirmary, Guy's Hospital, St Georges Hospital and Harefield Hospital. He was consultant in interventional cardiology and electrophysiology at Harefield Hospital between 1994-2001. He is now a cardiogist at St Peter's Hospital, Chertsey, and St George's Hospital, London. His main interests are in endocardial pacing, electrophysiological intervention and interventional cardiology. His research interests include haemodynamic pacing with particular reference to pacing in heart failure in which he publishes regularly. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Physians of London. Dr Philip Cummin, BM, FRCP Philip Cummin qualified at St Thomas' Hospital (London University) 1n 1977. He trained at St Thomas' Hospital and St Peter's Hospital. He is a principal in primary care with a special interest in community cardiological services. He has 20 years of experience in transthoracic echocardiography and more recently, in transoesophageal echocardiography. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London. Dr Susanna M Davidson, MB, BS, DCH, DObstRCOG, FRCR Susanna Davidson qualified at the Royal Free hospital (London University) in 1977 and trained at the Royal Free Hospital and Kings College Hospital, London. She has been in consultant practice as a general radiologistand has had a special interest in ultrasonography and nuclear medicine for 18 years. She is a fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists. |
